Quick Tips
Space Management
.Be creative with unused space on the walls, ceiling and under furniture. Hanging things on the walls may stretch the space many times over. A tablecloth can create instant storage under any surface. You can even put a shelf above a door.
.Use interesting containers or bins for temporary storage. Your workspace can be more attractive with such simple solutions.
.Use shelves to store items you use regularly and also hang equipment such as faxes and printers on shelves. This saves floor space and reduces the clutter.
.Corner desks and office equipment that can be rolled out of the way when not in use are great space savers.
.Store by height so all contents are readily visible, -placing the tallest items behind the shorter ones. Store items near wherever they are used. Keep duplicate supplies in a less convenient storage place. Centralize related things.
.Keep your office supplies in one area - for example a supplies cabinet. Don’t keep most of your office supplies in your desk drawer or on your desk.
.Remove personal items from your desktop to maximise work space. Keep a large clean space for current projects. Your desk should only contain a phone, notepad, step file organiser and current project.
.Keep only the supplies you use frequently on your desk. Sort through your desk files. Keep in your desk drawers only personal files and files that you use weekly.
.Prioritise storage by placing often-used items in the most convenient locations. Infrequently used items should be placed in less accessible spots, such as top shelves or in another room.
.Sell, throw or give way items that don’t work in your space any longer. Buy items that suit your needs. Many second hand furniture stores will allow you to trade in your old furniture for new items.
